Tateyama Castle, located in Chiba, is a magnificent historical site perched atop the 66-meter hilltop of Shiroyama Park. The current design of Tateyama Castle is based on Maruoka Castle, as there are no existing records of its original layout. Visitors can explore the museum’s permanent collection, which includes swords, armor, earthenware, tools, and a re-creation of a typical house from the region and time period.
To access Tateyama Castle, visitors can take a combination of rail and bus transportation. From JR Tateyama Station’s east entrance, they can board the JR Bus or Nitto Bus bound for JMSDF Tateyama Air Base (Tateyama Kokutai). After a short bus ride, they can alight at the Shiroyama Koen-mae bus stop and enjoy a leisurely five-minute walk to the castle.
The history of Tateyama Castle dates back to the 16th century when it was originally built by the daimyo Satomi Yoshiyasu.
