Crossing To Serangan Island Bali, With Motorcycle
Idbackpacker.com (Indonesia Backpacker) – The idea of visiting Serangan Island comes because a skype chat with my friends in the office some time ago. Turn out the location of Serangan Island is quite close to my office in Sanur. And that conversation makes my adventurous soul arise. If I explore Samalona island which is hundreds miles away from bali, then I should visit Serangan Island too. Furthermore it’s distance just a few kilometers away, not thousands. I found that This island has more appeal than i think, such as fishing spot for whom have fishing hoby, turtle beach with challenging waves for surfers, and water sport for water sports lovers. Not to mention its cultural tours of acculturation Bugis and Balinese culture on the Serangan Island.

Serangan Island in the past is actually separated from islands of Bali, and now there is a bridge connecting the two islands. But, I do not know since when the bridge was built. It is not important anyway, which obviously we do not bother looking for a ship to cross to Serangan Island. Just use motorcycle and voila! We arrived at Serangan Island. The island is also known as turtle conservation zone, because there is a turtle conservation center build on the island. Besides, the turtle statue located at the entrance already represent it as an island used for Turtle conservation.
Turtle beach, is one of Serangan Island charms, especially for who loved surfing. This beach have attract many surfer from around Bali recently. I think this beach has good waves for surfing , equal as the waves at Kuta beach. But I do not recommend for beginner try surfing at turtle beach, the waves are big enough, so it is not suitable for learning. Big wave is very suitable for pro surfer who wants to sharpen his surfing skills. If you can’t do surf, well it doesn’t matter. Surfing is not the only way to enjoy the beauty of this turtle beach. Other activities such as canoeing can also be an alternative for those of you who do not like surfing. Swimming is also recomended as turtle beach has a fairly quiet waves on the shore, also the seawater was clear and crisp.
Fishing, probably one of exciting activities that can be done after tired of surfing, or swimming in turtle beach. This activities also can be done for those of you who like to spend time with fishing. I do not know the type of fish found in the island waters, and how many. But in some places in the island, I found a lot of people fishing here. Then, the island certainly has a special attraction for fisher.

Fact About Serangan Island :
- Access to the island is quite easy. Total entrance fee you should pay is around IDR 3000. it is quite strange that you should pay the ticket 2 times. IDR 1000 at the entrance to the island, and IDR 2000 for turtle beach.
- It is better you bring your own surfing set, or rent it on kuta. There is no surfing board rental around.
