Makassar A Metropolitan City With Millions Nature And Culinary Destination

Idbackpacker.com (Indonesia Backpacker) – Anging Mammiri,is another name for the city of Makassar. A city that I choose for first time backpacking in South Sulawesi. I got a chance to visit this city because a few months ago I got a ticket promo Garuda Indonesia. Yay! Garuda is really generous this time.

When most people think outside of Java was deserted, and there just a wilderness exist. Then you are not completely true!! Try visit and see this Anging Mammiri city, with its international airports Sultan Hassanudin. It is not possible to beat Surabaya or Jakarta in a few more years .Even me already felt Makassar city bustle just after I coming out of the airport. Traffic jam everywhere!. So I asked myself, maybe congestion virus in other big cities in Java such as Jakarta already spread everywhere, including this city.

Metropolitan city, this title may be owned by this city in a few years. Or even now it is already worth mentioning Makassar as a metropolitan city. Just look a little bit closer how busy this city was. Even in the middle of its hustle bustle, the city has a million kinds of hidden charm that could lull all backpacker from around the world.

Not only because of its nature attraction, but also the city of Makassar has various specialties. You can mention how delicious was it’s culinary, and do not miss all its historical attractions like Fort Rotterdam which is located in the center of Makassar.

Potential for nature tourism Makassar is pretty good, even it is possible to called it equal with island of the gods, Bali. If Bali has Kuta beach as a place to enjoy the sunset while relaxing. Makassar has Losari which also a beach popular for hanging out while enjoy delicious coffee along its coast. Anging Mammiri city is ready to pamper us with delicious foods and drinks. Even more, in my opinion the price here is not too expensive. Perfect place for budget traveler indeed!

Pisang epe, a famous street food in Makassar

Some small island is also one of the attractions of Makassar tourism. Which I think it could be the city’s tourism icon. Because only a few places in Indonesia which has a cluster of small islands that can easily to visit, and one of them is in Makassar. This city are fortunate to have some beautiful view and unique islands like Samalona Island, with diving as its main attraction. Also Kodingareng Keke with its snorkeling appeal, and many other unique island to visit. Sadly I have very less time for exploring Makassar more.

Not enough with islands destination? Makassar also present many other charms to explored, such as culinary tours with its wide variety of foods. Also, I was happy when i found that there is a street devoted to culinary tourism in the city of Makassar. Because culinary hunting is my favourite activity when traveling. For traveler who love theme parks, Makassar also has a theme park named “Trans Studio”, that claimed to be the largest indoor amusement park in Asia. That status make Trans Studio Makassar is must visit destination when traveling in the city of Anging Mamiri.
