Jemeluk Bay, A Small Piece of Heaven In Amed, East Bali

Jemeluk Bay, A Small Piece of Heaven In Amed, East Bali

Idbackpacker.com (Indonesia Backpacker) – It isn’t doubt anymore, Jemeluk Bay is a little piece of heaven that fell in Amed, East Bali. It looks so beautiful, even from far away.

I canceled immediately my plan for snorkeling in japanese ship wreck point. When I saw a cluster of beautiful coral that clearly visible from my motorcycle. Hey! I remember that before japanese shipwreck snorkeling spot, there is a spot that I want to try, The name is Jemeluk Bay!

Incidentally, at that time I was with my sister who came far away from Jakarta, my country’s capital. Given the sea current of Japanese shipwreck points at this time are often uncertain (read: fast-moving sea current). This time I decided to try fun snorkeling in Jemeluk Bay. I do not want my sister who came from far away disappointed, because she have to snorkel in the strong sea currents.

Without thinking, I turn my motorcycle towards the entrance of Jemeluk Bay, which is located just a few hundred meters behind. Haven’t finished parking my motorcycle, an old man was approaching me, and asked “Do you want to snorkeling? I rent the snorkeling tools, it is cheap, only 50.000 rupiahs (around $6 USD).” Supposedly this snorkel sets rent price can be negotiable up to Rp. 40,000 per set (one set consists of snorkel, goggles, life jackets and a pair of fins). However, because this time is just both of us, I did not try to bargain. Well, I just want to do snorkeling as soon as possible, it was a really hot day! The sooner I get into the water, the better!

Bali does have some nice snorkeling spots such as Menjangan Island. But snorkeling spots that are located just a few meters from the beach, only can found at some point in Amed. Jemeluk Bay is one spot that I mean. You can start snorkel in Jemeluk Bay, without rent any boat. Just start swimming few meters from the beach.

Also, in Jemeluk bay we could rent a mattress for only Rp. 10,000 (around $2 USD) for relaxing yourself. Or if you feel tired of snorkeling, this mattress was rented by warungs that are available near Jemeluk Bay. In addition they also sell some delicious food, which can save us from hunger after snorkeling.

I think Jemeluk Bay is the perfect place for a vacation, and relaxing all day. Calm and clear sea water, and the strategic location of this bay make the sensation of swimming in Jemeluk Bay is like swimming in a quiet pool. Unfortunately at some point there is a flaw in this Jemeluk Bay! The underwater view isn’t too good because most of Jemeluk bay coral reefs are already dead or damaged. It is a little bit sad, because beautiful coral view could attract more people for visiting this bay.

Definitely a great place to chill out!!

Surely that damaged reefs is caused by unresponsible human. Even so, with this damaged coral reefs, I still can see funny fishes in many quantities. Although it can not be compared with its neighbors, Japanese ship wreck point or Menjangan Island’s snorkeling point. But, snorkeling in Jemeluk Bay will complete your experience in exploring Amed underwater paradise. Just think that you were swimming in the super big pool full of fish, when you are snorkeling in Jemeluk Bay. That was really cool you know?

When I do fun snorkeling here, I imagine something in my mind. How is the original condition of Jemeluk Bay underwater view, of course when its condition was not damaged at all. Under such conditions, Jemeluk Bay could be a beautiful little paradise in Amed, East Bali. How about you!?
