Tebing Keraton, Tebing Karaton, Tebing Instagram, and Tebing Mainstream, that’s the name’s of a just famous cliff in Bandung because of social media. Actually this Tebing Keraton is a cliff that also located in the Forest Park Ir. H. Juanda. Precisely this cliff is located in Kampung Ciharegem Peak, Ciburial Village, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia.

This place became so famous in social media because there I can enjoy some spectacular view of Bandung. Although it is not the views of the twinkling lights of Bandung like in Bukit Moko, but the views of green and fresh forests! Tebing Keraton can make anyone who was tired with work activities and bored from everyday routines happy.

Tebing Keraton presents not only good view of Lembang fracture lines, but also it’s dense forest that sometimes covered with a thin mist. Tebing Keraton actually already ther since years ago. No body know when, or which year it does formed, which obviously it was existed since the existence of Bandung. But the name of Tebing Keraton not yet available before this cliff getting famous on social media. It was known as Karang Jontor, because this is a rock that jutted forward.

Before Tebing Keraton became so phenomenal and very famous, initially this cliff is already wellknown by Bandung City cycling hobbyists. They are often cycling from Bandung to multiple destinations, and one of their favourite destination is Tebing Keraton. About in mid-2014, then some visitor began to post their picture in Tebing Keraton to some social media. Most of story and places are goes viral very fast after published in social media. And, Tebing Keraton too, it goes viral after some popular social media accounts begin to RT and re-publish pictures that is taken in Tebing Keraton.

After that time slowly but sure Tebing Keraton became famous as an anti-mainstream tourist destination in Bandung. Moreover, since the photos of that cliff was uploaded into the social media called Instagram. Yep, a lot of people who visit this cliff also do some selfie and upload it into Instagram. That’s why Tebing Keraton is also known as Instagram Cliff , and Selfie Cliff in Bandung.

Factors that make Tebing Keraton became famous beside the social media is because of the way towards Tebing Keraton is not easy. The cliff can be reached approximately for around 15 minutes from the center of Bandung using a motorbike or a car. Even though sometimes could be longger due to traffic jam. The main clue to the cliff are, from the center of Bandung, Drive north toward the terminal Dago via Jalan IR H Juanda.

From there find directions to Ciburial or Dago Pakar. Find the path to Forest Park IR H Juanda (Tahura IR H Juanda). This park is the next main clue. Just a moment after meeting the gate IR H Juanda Forest Park, there will be a hint towards Tebing Keraton. Just turn right when you see it. Through Jalan Bukit Pakar Utara you will pass big houses that will lead you to Ciburial village. Just drive along until you see a stall or “warung” with a large billboard that named ‘Warung Bandrek’. That means you were near Tebing Keraton Already.

From this Warung Bandrek just keep driving a bit, go uphill trough uneven rocky road towards the village of Ciharegem Puncak. Upon arriving at Ciharegem Puncal Village you must be able to see the motor and car parking. From here, Tebing Keraton is just 5 minute or less by waling.

It used to get into the cliff , the charge is not fixed, but now ther rates for admission to Tebing Keraton is ID 11,000, – for domestic tourists or local, while foreign tourists is ID 76,000, -. The rates does not include the cost of motorcycle parking for IDR 5,000 and ID 10,000 car, It becomes expensive anyway, but Cliff palace now become more well maintained with comfortable walkways and fences around the cliff for safety.

Finally, the best time to visit Tebing Keraton is at sunset or sunrise. In the morning just before sunrise, thin fog will cover the area around the cliff. While on sunsets you will be able to enjoy the beautiful sky with silhouette ranks of hills including Mount Tangkuban Perahu which continues with the darkness of night. But do not forget if you want to go to this Tebing Keraton prepare a camera, a warm jacket, drinks, snacks and vehicles which have been filled up with full fuel. Because it is rare finding fuel sellers during the journey to Tebing Keraton.
